Located in the quiet woodlands north of Drouin, the Concrete House serves as a retreat from the dense urban fabric. The project explores the duality of heaviness and lightness, using raw concrete to ground the structure while large glass openings invite the surrounding nature inside.
The plan is organized around a central courtyard that acts as a light well, diffusing soft daylight into the living spaces throughout the day. Materiality was kept to a minimum: exposed concrete, local cedar wood, and black steel details create a monochromatic palette that changes with the seasons outside.
By elevating the main living floor, we preserved the existing topography of the site, allowing the forest floor to continue uninterrupted beneath the cantilevered volumes.
